The building was created using 24 individual modules that were all delivered within a 16 hour period to the hospital which commenced at 6.00am Sunday morning with the last delivery coming into the hospital grounds at 10.00 pm Sunday night. It was vital to the trust that all deliveries were carried out during Sunday to ensure no disruption to the trust.
The crane lifting was completed at 1.00am Monday morning under site floodlighting with a bespoke GRP plantroom and air handling plant being the last lifts of the project. This was to ensure continuity of works with the M&E team commencing works Monday morning.
This installation was the second in successive months for the trust and increases the current number of module projects for the trust to five. The modular ward follows current buildings on the site which include a twin operating theatre, recovery area , A&E department and recently installed eye infirmary.
The modular ward will be fully operational early December.
