MTX are continuing well on site with our latest project at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield. Utilising Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), we are providing a new and modern decant ward, to allow the relocation of patients whilst vital refurbishment works take place on other main hospital facilities.
The new decant ward for Pinderfields Hospital is currently in phase 1 and the groundworks and foundation stages are nearing completion. Once finished, it will include a re-provided room, donning and doffing areas and a bariatric care unit.
Phase 2 is due to start 15 months after completion of phase 1. Works include converting the open critical care ward into 4 bed wards and the donning and doffing areas into single bed rooms, in order to maximise ward capacity.
The extensive experience and hard-working ethos of the MTX team and our external design consultants, have allowed us to overcome an array of challenges, predominantly due to the brownfield nature of the site. We reacted to the changing ground conditions by changing the foundation design of the project, with minimal impact and disruption to the site.
This fully compliant MMC ward project, is minimising construction times by up to 50% and waste by up to 60%, all the while continuing to deliver high standards. This project will aid the Trust’s needs for an efficient delivery with limited disruption, ensuring the hospital can continue with its daily activities throughout the construction works.
