MTX Oxford Critical Care project shortlisted for HEFMA Awards 2023

MTX are excited to announce that our client team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have been shortlisted for Project of the Year at HEFMA Awards 2023, for their prestigious 5-storey critical care building delivered by MTX at John Radcliffe Hospital last year.

This already double award-winning project provided the hospital with 5,450m² of critical care accommodation in just 60 weeks. The new state of the art facility was delivered cost effectively and efficiently by adopting a broad spectrum of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), including categories 1-3 and 5-7 to achieve a pre-manufactured value (PMV) of 54%.

Due to the excellent collaboration and teamwork between the Trust, MTX and key project partners, the scheme ran smoothly and took just 15 months from initial design to successful handover. This critical care project, with such complex service requirements, would have taken up to 3 years to complete, if traditional construction methods had been used.

Talking about the project, Lyn Bennett, Matron for Adult Critical Care and Clinical Lead Advisor Nurse for Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust said; “We have been able to incorporate advanced 21st century designs that, from experience, will enable the clinical team to provide efficient and excellent clinical care for patients while working in a modern, bright, natural daylit and person-centred environment. The design of the new critical care building has attracted considerable external interest, including from NHSE/NHSI and believe it will prove to be a landmark building.”
