Wilmslow-based MTX which works closely with the NHS to create new operating theatres and other patient-care facilities has organised a challenge to raise funds for County Community Trust’s Health & Well-Being Programme and also support needy communities in Peru.
MTX employees are taking part in the sponsored virtual ‘Cross Peru’ challenge to run, walk and cycle more than 1200 kilometres– which is the equivalent of travelling from the eastern border of Peru to the western coast.
The aim is to raise £7,500 for the Health and Well-Being Programme which massively impacts local adults in most need, and celebrate two young MTX employees Katie and Ben who travel to Peru in November to join teams of volunteers building schools and clinics serving local people.
MTX has for many years been a preferred partner for the NHS in the provision of new buildings using modern methods of construction – including off-site modular build – to deliver cost effective facilities that are brought into service more quickly than those built using traditional methods. That partnership has created an acute awareness of the vital support required for those most in need.
MTX Managing Director David Hartley explains: “Our company purpose to improve the care of generations extends to communities in the UK and globally, and we continually seek ways to improve our own processes and to make a difference. That’s why we’re excited to be backing Katie and Ben to travel to Peru, so they can use their skills to work with local volunteer groups building schools and hospitals.
“But we’re all aware that families, communities and charities within the UK are also facing huge challenges and are desperately in need of support. So the ‘Cross Peru’ Challenge celebrates Katie and Ben’s selfless dedication and gives us all the opportunity to raise funds to support the excellent work being done right here by the County Community Trust.”
County Community Trust is the official affiliated charitable arm of Stockport County FC. The Trust is committed to improving the health and well-being of people of all ages and abilities across Stockport and the surrounding area to help make a positive difference to their lives.
The virtual ‘Cross Peru’ challenge will be completed during the months of October and November. Employees, families and MTX supply chain partners will be sponsoring the challenge with progress towards the target tracked through Strava and official leader boards to keep everyone motivated.
