In late 2019 MTX were awarded the contract to construct new facilities for the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
The new development will comprise of 2 storeys and MTX will also construct a link corridor at each level to integrate with the existing facility. The new build will encompass an operating theatre, cath lab, recovery suites and ancillary areas, as well as outpatient and diagnostic facilities. Externally it will be finished with a brick faced façade, which matches part of the hospital’s existing exterior.
Groundworks are currently progressing well onsite and once completed, a steel transfer deck will be installed to accommodate the new building. Project handover is due to be accomplished late 2020.
