MTX has completed a £49 million diagnostic and imaging centre at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey. MTX secured the contract through a two-part tender process, initially working with the Trust to provide pre-construction design services to RIBA stage four, then tendering for construction of the facility using modern methods of construction (MMC). The centre features advanced diagnostic imaging equipment, including three CT scanners, two MRI scanners, and two gamma cameras, along with a breast care diagnostic and outpatient unit.
Key elements include 74 inpatient beds, a mix of single rooms and four-bed bays, and a link corridor to the main hospital for streamlined access. MTX has also installed a new substation with a 3200amp HV transformer to ensure reliable power for the facility’s advanced equipment.
With sustainability at its core, the facility is designed to achieve BREEAM Excellent certification, incorporating renewable energy systems and energy-efficient MEP solutions. By employing MMC principles, including off-site manufacturing of 145 structural steel units, MTX has delivered this compliant, cost-effective healthcare facility faster, safer, and greener than traditional methods.
MTX worked collaboratively with us to deliver a quality product within the parameters of the project and expectation of the Trust. The site management was first class, with safety always being at the forefront of their standards. Communication between the project team and key stakeholders was always professional and pro-active. Overall, a very professional team focussed on delivery.
