Double win at Building Better Healthcare Awards

MTX scooped the title of 'Community Diagnostic Centre of the Year’ for the concurrent build of CDCs at Lincoln and Skegness, and 'Best Modular/Mobile Healthcare’ for their Milford project.

Alistair Nelson, Programme Director for CDC Estates Delivery at ULTH, said the feedback from patients was fantastic: “This was an ambitious £38million project to deliver two modern NHS facilities at the same time, approximately 40 miles apart. In fewer than 40 weeks, both spaces were transformed to create the fantastic clinical facilities we have today.”  MTX has now been chosen by United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (ULTH) to create an extension to the Lincoln CDC.

The Milford CDC includes two MRI scanners and a CT scanner, along with consulting rooms and offices and is set deliver an extra 11,000 MRIs and 9,500 CT scans annually as part of a 'one-stop-shop' for Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust.

Elite Group acquired to strengthen FM support for NHS
Elite Group, a well-established facilities management and engineering services business based in West Yorkshire, has been acquired by MTX.

The acquisition marks significant milestone for MTX as the business continues to strengthen its maintenance, small works and FM capabilities to support both existing healthcare clients and the wider NHS estate.

David Hartley, Managing Director of MTX Contracts Ltd, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Elite Group into the MTX family. Their impressive achievements, strong culture and technical capability make them a natural fit for our business. Together, we are well positioned to support the evolving needs of the NHS estate while creating new opportunities for our teams and clients alike. This marks the start of an exciting new chapter for both organisations.”

Oxford Surgical Elective Centre reaches key milestone

The arrival of 365 offsite manufactured structural modules marked a key milestone in creating a Surgical Elective Centre at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

The five-storey SEC for Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) NHS Foundation Trust is set to open its first phase in summer 2026 with seven new operating theatres - including two hybrid operating theatres - on the ground floor of the 7,541 sqm building. The modules began arriving in July to start the complex operation of craning them onto the constricted site in the heart of the hospital without disturbing the operation of other surrounding clinical facilities. By October, the complete structure was weatherproof enabling the MTX team to proceed with internal fit out.

Royal Berkshire Hospital Urology unit

A new Urology Outpatients Department at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading created MTX was visited in May by Health Secretary Wes Streeting and Reading MPs Olivia Bailey, Yuan Yang and Matt Rodda, who toured the new facility.

A total of 44 precisely engineered structural steel units were craned into position to create the 1400m² facility.  The use of factory-manufactured structural steel units and services modules assembled on site is part of the MMC-led process which ensures quality assured construction and speeds delivery.

The new facility was funded by the NHS Capital for Targeted Investment in Elective Recovery created to reduce the backlog of elective procedures.

Purpose-built R&D laboratory for SI Group

A purpose-built state-of-the-art Research and Development (R&D) laboratory for SI Group was designed and delivered by MTX Contracts Ltd at Four Ashes, near Wolverhampton.

MTX provided a full suite of services including architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical design, as well as construction and fit-out.

SI Group is a leading global developer and manufacturer of performance additives, process solutions, and chemical intermediates. Outpatient Department at Stepping Hill Hospital

A new outpatients centre was created at Stepping Hill Hospital by MTX for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

Karen James OBE, Chief Executive of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust said “It is excellent to see this fantastic new building open, and that our outpatients service will be available under the same roof once more, in a greatly improved environment. I’d like to thank MTX, and our capital, estates and clinical colleagues for working so hard to get the new centre ready and running so swiftly – a great example of partnership working.”

The hospital is a specialist ‘hub’ centre for emergency and high-risk general surgery - one of only four in Greater Manchester -  and the new £24.3m facility will ensure the best care for around half a million patients that use Stepping Hill Hospital annually.
