Lincoln CDC extension delivered in just 21 weeks by MTX

An extension to the Lincoln Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) has been completed by MTX Contracts Ltd in just 21 weeks using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), further expanding diagnostic and planned care capacity for patients across Lincolnshire.
Delivered for Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group, the extension adds nine consultation rooms, a treatment room and a plaster room to the existing facility, helping to support faster access to planned care services and reduce waiting times across the region.
The project builds on the success of the original Lincoln CDC, which was also delivered by MTX and opened in late 2024 as part of the Government’s national programme to bring diagnostic services closer to home for patients.
As part of the latest phase of works, MTX also delivered a new linkway connecting the extension to the existing CDC, alongside associated drainage and groundworks across the site.
MTX originally built the award-winning Lincoln CDC concurrently with a second CDC in Skegness. Both centres were designed to reflect the specific health needs of each local community and offer a wide variety of diagnostic services and clinical pathways, including CT scans, MRIs, X-rays and blood tests.
Since opening its doors, Lincoln CDC has delivered more than 116,000 tests, significantly easing pressure on acute hospital sites while improving access to diagnostic services.
MTX Contracts Managing Director, David Hartley, said: “The completion of this extension in just 21 weeks demonstrates the speed and quality that can be achieved through our intelligent, hybrid approach to Modern Methods of Construction. We are proud to have once again collaborated with Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group to create additional clinical capacity while supporting faster access to care for patients across Lincolnshire.”
Professor Karen Dunderdale, Chief Executive of Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group, said: “The completion of the £4 million building project to extend our facilities at Lincoln CDC is great news for the residents of Lincolnshire.
“The additional clinical space will help us to see more patients in the community as part of their ongoing planned outpatient care, and, by moving some clinics out of Lincoln County Hospital, we’ve also been able to support improvements to urgent and emergency care services.
“The freed-up space means our Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service within the hospital has been able to grow, supporting more people to access emergency care quickly and without the need for a hospital admission.”
