Llantrisant Health Park
A landmark diagnostics and treatment centre for South East Wales located in Llantrisant, Rhondda Cynon Taf, is being designed by MTX using modern methods of construction.
It is the first stage of a project to transform the former British Airways Avionics Engineering (BAAE) site into a state-of-the-art healthcare campus, delivering a c.17,300m² new build development across three buildings with supporting infrastructure.
MTX has been appointed under a Pre-Construction Services Agreement (PCSA) to deliver Phase 1 of the development, which focuses on the design and construction of the 7,500m² Community Diagnostics Hub. Set across three floors, the new hub will house a range of advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities.

Summer delivery for Oxford Surgical Centre
The five-storey Surgical Elective Centre being built by MTX at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for Oxford University Hospitals (OUH) NHS Foundation Trust is set to open its first phase over the summer, with seven new operating theatres - including two hybrid operating theatres - on Level One (ground floor) of the 7,541 sqm building.
The arrival of 365 offsite manufactured structural modules during summer 2025 marked a key milestone in the project and by October, the complete structure was weatherproof enabling the MTX team to proceed with internal fit out.
Work is progressing rapidly on the site in the heart of the hospital, with the team carefully managing the project to minimise disturbance to disturbing the surrounding clinical facilities.

Extension to award-winning Lincoln CDC
MTX has been chosen by United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (ULTH) to create an extension to the award-winning Lincoln Community Diagnostic Centre.
The concurrent build of the Lincoln CDC and another at Skegness was chosen by Building Better Healthcare as the publication’s 'Community Diagnostic Centre of the Year.’ During 2025 - their first year of operation - the two CDCs treated more than 100,000 patients.
The extension will support planned care and additional diagnostic services, helping to further increase capacity and reduce waiting times. The contract includes the creation of a linkway between the two buildings, additional drainage and groundworks.

Stronger FM support for NHS
MTX will have a stronger focus on growing its Facilities Management support for the NHS following acquisition of the Elite Group, a well-established facilities management and engineering services business based in West Yorkshire.
The acquisition marks a significant milestone in the drive by MTX to strengthen its maintenance, small works and FM capabilities to support both existing healthcare clients and the wider NHS estate.
David Hartley, Managing Director of MTX Contracts Ltd, commented: “Together, we are well positioned to support the evolving needs of the NHS estate while creating new opportunities for our teams and clients alike. This marks the start of an exciting new chapter for both organisations.”

Work begins on Pitsea CDC and community centre
Work has begun on a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), activity spaces and a library at Pitsea in Essex. Due to open in spring 2027, the two-storey facility will play a vital role in improving access to health services and reducing waiting times across the region by providing more than 130,000 extra health checks each year.
The new CDC will be the largest of its kind in the region, boasting an eight-room endoscopy suite as well as offering X-rays, CT and MRI scans, blood tests and other health checks. It will also be a key wellbeing hub for the community. The milestone was celebrated by the MTX team along with local MP James McMurdock, councillors and community representatives at a groundbreaking ceremony on site.

New Renal Unit at Basildon University Hospital
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust have chosen MTX to design and build a new renal hub at Basildon University Hospital, with a planned Summer 2026 opening.
Facilities within the new single storey building will include six 4-bed wards and two single-bed dialysis units, connected by a link corridor to the existing hospital. The dialysis units will be designed for optimal patient comfort and clinical efficiency, including individual treatment bays, integrated water treatment systems, and a layout designed for staff to manage multiple patients safely.
The new facility will be fast-tracked using hybrid construction methods, with precisely engineered structural steel units factory-manufactured offsite and craned into position for assembly on site. Mechanical and electrical equipment will be designed for manufacture and testing offsite before delivery and final assembly.

MTX secures triple placement on NHS Modular Building Framework
MTX has secured places on all three lots of the NHS Commercial Solutions £1bn Modular Building Framework, covering Consultancy Services, Modular and Prefabricated Building Solutions and Managed Services.
MTX is one of only three companies out of more than 40 within the framework to be appointed on all three lots to deliver modular and prefabricated building solutions for the public sector, including healthcare and education.
MTX Managing Director David Hartley said: “MTX is proud to offer a true end-to-end solution to our NHS clients - from project conception, through to design, construction and ongoing maintenance. As a company we take huge pride in the work we do to support healthcare professionals, and we are excited to continue helping to shape the future of healthcare infrastructure across the UK.”
