Leicester General Hospital, Leicestershire

In December 2005 MTX completed the installation of a single-storey modular operating theatre covering an area of 4000sq. ft for Leicester General Hospital.

The Design and Build Contract included the preparation of ground works. Eight weeks after receiving instruction to proceed MTX craned in a total of fourteen modules which were manufactured off-site. This then allowed an eight week on site period to complete the fit out works. The building was handed over two days before the agreed completion.

Full Design including building layout, building specification and all building services installation and specification was carried out in-house, all adhering to the HTM’s, HBN’s NHS specifications and Clients requirements.

The theatre suite incorporates Ultra Clean facility and comprehensive air conditioning providing sterile air throughout.

Ten days after completion, the operating theatre was fully operational. Staff at the hospital reported how the building offers a comfortable and spacious working environment similar to that of any traditional build facility.
